North of Papa Nero beach
|
From the path climbing from Damouhari (just south of Papa Nero) to the mountain
village of Tsangarada, looking to the north, you can see
three successive bays: the first is Papa Nero beach, the
second is the holiday resort of Agios Ioannis (with a
small harbour of which you see the wall) and the third is

A "Flying Dolphin" ("Minoan Lines") arriving in
Agios Ioannis harbour (August 2000). Until 2000 these
hydrofoils linked Agios Ioannis to the island of Skiathos
four times per week (on Wednesday and Saturday morning
and evening). Unfortunately, this connection was
discontinued during the autumn of 2000. |
Agios Ioannis beach |
"Plaka" is the
name of the bay and beach just north Agios Ioannis; it's
easy to reach through a narrow path. Apart from a hotel
and a few tavernas it is uninhabited (August 2000). |

South of Papa Nero beach |
Just south of Papa Nero is the village of Damouhari. From there,
a path climbs to the mountain village of Tsangarada. This picture was
made from the highest point on that path from which you can still see Damouhari
